This 3D printed replica of The Veiled Lady, one of the numerous versions executed during the ’50s. Clearly alluding to a classical portrait bust, especially in the clean sweep of the lower edge, the bust transforms its prototype by the sensual treatment of stone and subject. The Veiled Lady (vestal virgin?) captures the perfection of innocence and youth, which, as the dew-fresh morning glories on her crown, will all too soon fade.
As in The Veiled Lady, the marble is carved so ingeniously and thinly as to appear transparent in those parts where it extends over the facial features.

The name Ardhanarishvara means “the Lord Who is half woman.” Siva is represented here as half-male and half-female, typifying the male and female energies. The right half represents Siva and the left Parvati. Siva has a jatamakuta with a crescent moon. He has three arms of which the lower armrests on the back of the bull, his vehicle., and the upper right has an axe. The whole of the right side is adorned with ornaments peculiar to Shiva. The right leg is bent and rests on the pedestal. The drapery is shown up to the knee. On the left side, the image has Karanda makuta. The temple will be 235 feet wide, 360 feet long, and 161 feet high. Once complete, the temple complex will be the world’s third-largest Hindu shrine. It is designed in the Nagara style of Indian temple architecture. The building will have a total of 366 columns. The columns will have 16 idols each to include the incarnations of Shiva, the 10 Avatars of Vishnu, and the 12 incarnations of the goddess Saraswati. The width of the stairs will be 16 feet.
